HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE ASSEMBLING YOUR ENGINE

The engine and surrounding area should be clean, to prevent debris from entering the engine case.
Be sure all surfaces are clean and from all previous gasket material.

CYLINDER AND POWER VALVE ASSY'
Wash the cylinder out with detergent and hot water not solvent, ensuring that all surfaces are clean.
Wipe the cylinder wall with two stroke oil.
Power valve parts must be free from dirt, dust and carbon.
When fitted into the cylinder they must operate freely.
We suggest that power valve retaining screws are assembled with a thread locke Loctite)
Any dirt/dust/debris left in the crankcases or sucked in through the carburettor will cause rapid wear or damage to the cylinder plating
Ensure piston to bore clearance and piston ring end gap is in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. MINIMUM 0.012" end gap. THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT.
There is far more danger of ring butting than appreciable compression loss.

We have found ring end gaps generally to be too tight. The ring ends will butt and cause vertical lines on the plating starting from port bridges.
Most piston manufacturers now offer graded pistons, A,B,C, etc.. If in doubt please call us before assembly.

STARTING YOUR ENGINE
Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
If these are not available the following is a guide.
Use the SAME oil mix as normal. DO NOT use an extra oil mixture when running in.
Allow about 45 minutes for the running of the new piston/plating.
Allow the engine to cool down and re-torque the cylinder head/case bolts.

RACE WARM UP
Air cooled engines require only a short warm up prior to racing. As long as the correct running in procedure has been followed.
Liquid cooled engines must be brought up to normal operating temperature prior to racing, to avoid cold seizures. This is caused by the piston expanding faster than the cylinder.

PLEASE NOTE
Small pitting in the surface of the Ceramic Plating is caused by carbon in the aluminium.
Normally found on older cylinders, 5+ years old.
We try to reduce this where necessary by grinding out and filling with det'welding, however, in some cases the carbon rises to the surface of the plating. This is of no consequence to the running or sealing of the rings.
